Moonstone Australian Shepherds is a small hobby kennel located in the northwestern hills of Connecticut. I have been training and showing dogs for over 30 years. My introduction to the Aussie was back in 1984. I was attending obedience classes in Harwinton, CT. I met Diane Dodge of Meri-Mor and, at the time, Debbie (Partridge) St. Jacques of Beauwood. I fell in love with their two Aussies, Scout and Russ. I could not believe the brains and beauty of these dogs. I had to have one.
My first Aussie was a little black tri bitch from herding lines, Pine Needle Farms Lady Sheena from The Richardson’s in MA. About a year later I got a dog from Debbie, a Russ son, a red merle by the name of Ch. Rossy’s Red Rover, CD. I trained and trialed Rover. Rover was my heart and soul. I went to my first ASCA Specialty in Springfield, MA in 1986. I entered Novice A and walked away with first place with a score of 196.5. That was all I needed…the Aussie bug got me. Since then I have titled numerous Aussies and German Shepherds in both conformation and obedience.
Our belief at Moonstone is to promote an Australian Shepherd with a sound mind, good temperament, proper structure and breed type, intelligence and instinct. Our Aussies and our Aussie puppies are home raised. They are brought up with children, other dogs, and cats. We try our best so we can prepare them for the real world. Our dogs are ASCA/AKC registered.
October 13, 2013 - "Storm" is now GCH Vinelake's Painted Desert going Select again for 2 points & Best Owner Handler under Judge Mr. Peter Green with Morgan in Augusta, New Jersey.
April 26, 2013 - We had a very exciting time with great dogs and great friends at the 2013 USASA National Specialty in Gray Summit, Missouri. On Wednesday, our boy Terra-Blue's Natural Phenomenon "Ty" won 1st Place in the American-Bred class, and our boy Vinelake's Painted Desert "Storm" was 2nd Place in the Open Red Merle dog class, both judged by Mr. Walter Sommerfelt. On Friday, Morgan & Vinelake's Painted Desert "Storm" won Best Junior Handler with a total of 24 Junior Handlers entered. And our two girls CH AKC/ASCA CH Terra-Blue Lil Red Riding Hood "Feti" and AKC/ASCA CH Terra-Blue Moonstone Black N Blue "Bruze" both made the cuts in their classes in Best of Breed.
April 02, 2013 - We are so proud of Morgan and her accomplishments in AKC Junior Showmanship. Morgan has qualified for Eukanuba 2013 and Westminster Kennel Club 2014.
March 23, 2013 - Today at the New Brunswick Kennel Club show in Edison, NJ, Vinelake's Painted Desert "Storm" was Winners Dog/Best of Winners for a 3 point major under Judge Mr. Lawrence Stanbridge.
March 21, 2013 - Today at the Herding Group show in Edison, NJ, Vinelake's Painted Desert "Storm" was Winners Dog for 2 points under Judge Liz Bianchi.
March 16, 2013 - Today at the ASCNE Rescue Show in Taunton, MA, Vinelake's Painted Desert "Storm" was Winners Dog/Best of Winners for a 4 point major under Judge Margaret Reed.
March 02, 2013 - At the Connecticut River Working Group, Morgan was Best Junior Handler under Judge Robert Caswell for her sixth Best Junior Handler win.

January 06, 2013 - At the Merrimack Valley Kennel Club show, Vinelake's Painted Desert "Storm" was Winners Dog for 1 point under Judge Arley D. Hussin. Morgan was also Best Junior Handler under Judge Jim Owens.
